Happy Lifestyle Medicine Week 2025!

We kicked off the week yesterday, hosting Calgary’s 2nd Walk With A Doc event. We had a strong turnout despite rainy weather and walked for 49 minutes. Grateful to everyone who showed up for their health!

As you know, we start each month’s walk with a health talk, and for May our topic is, “What Is Lifestyle Medicine?”

Lifestyle Medicine is an evidence-based, medical specialty that focuses on whole person care through behaviour change. There are six pillars:

  1. Nutrition – whole food, plant-predominant eating
  2. Movement – consistency over intensity
  3. Sleep – quality and quantity
  4. Stress Management – mental health optimization 
  5. Avoiding Risky Substances – say NO!
  6. Social Connection – #1 predictor of longevity
