“What we do everyday matters more than what we do once in a while.” – Gretchen Rubin
I came across this quote recently, and it resonated with me because I often talk to clients about lasting results. It’s one thing to lose weight. It’s another thing to keep the weight off.
When we want to lose weight or improve our health, we seem to think that we need to make big changes in order to get big results. A lot of us struggle with this mindset.
So how do we lose weight and keep it off? Here is where a more balanced approach can help.
Regularly practicing positive healthy behaviours, will improve our health much more effectively than the next fad.
Instead of aiming to run 5 km everyday, we could start with a brisk walk around the block during a break on our work days. Running everyday might start out well, but invariably when life happens, it becomes hard to maintain. A brisk walk may not be as intense as a 5 km run, but it is easier to keep it going when life gets busy.
Small habits and positive behaviours practiced consistently over a long period of time, will always be more impactful than big changes that don’t last.
