Holidays and vacations are experiences we look forward to.

However, these travels can be overwhelming when we are trying to build healthier habits and lives.

Routines get disrupted. Environments are unfamiliar. We feel less control. We might feel a desire to overindulge while away and reset when we are back. We are scared to gain weight.

So how can we enjoy traveling without an all or nothing mindset?

In this three part series, we will explore strategies to enjoy our adventures guilt-free:

  • Focus on what we can control
    • Even if restaurants, menus, and cooking methods are not in our control, we get to choose what goes on our plate and in our mouth. If there is no healthy option available, accept and enjoy the experience!
  • Keep balanced eating simple
    • Fill half of your plate with fruits and veggies and eat these first! Eating our veggies first helps regulate blood sugar and can increase satiety. The other half of the plate gets split equally between lean protein and carbohydrates.
