You know that feeling when you really want to hit 10,000 steps, but it’s 11pm and you are at 9,847. We feel a sense of obligation but we are exhausted from our day. So what do we do?

If we choose to sleep, we go to bed feeling defeated, as if we did not accomplish anything. We might feel like a failure. Or not good enough.

If we pace around the kitchen and stay up to hit the 10,000, is it really that much more satisfying?

What if we took a moment to celebrate the steps we DID achieve?

9,847 steps = approx. 7.92km or 4.92 mi… certainly something to be proud of!

And by the way, 10,000 steps is not really evidence-based.

Just 4,000 – 7,000 steps daily can confer major health benefits, such as reducing risk of dying from any cause, reducing cardiovascular disease risk, and reducing risk of early death.

If you have time to do more, amazing. But on busier days be kind to yourself and do what you can. And cheer yourself on!
